Large Paper Flower
Isn’t this paper flower just beautiful?!
I made it the other day. It was really simple! It took me a while so I suggest you set aside at least an hour to make it.
I was inspired by Amy Butler‘s paper flower. Look at that gorgeous paper!
Step 1: Take a 12 by 12 inch piece of decorative card stock. Cut it into half and then cut one of the sides into half again, so you have two 3 by 12 inch strips.
Step two: On the 12 inch side of each of the 3 by 12 inch strips, draw a line 1/2 inch above the edge with a ruler.
Step three: Using your craft knife, cut many thin slits down from the line you just drew.
Step four: Do this on both strips from one end to the other.
Step five: On the wrong side of one of the strips, brush some school glue onto the 1/2 inch side of the strip. Roll it up into approximately a 1 inch roll. You may want to use a piece of tape to secure it.
Step six: Wrap a rubber band around the top of the roll. This will help get the shape you want.
Step seven: Do the same with the other strip, except glue on the right side of the decorative paper so that the wrong side faces out. Make sure that this roll is slightly bigger than the first so that it will fit around the first.
Step eight: With the other side of the 12 by 12 inch card stock cut a 12 by 3 1/2 inch strip.
Step nine: Do the same with the first two strips, cutting down with your craft knife to the bottom. Space out the slits about 1/2 an inch and round the tops.
Step eleven: Glue and roll the strip into another roll. Make sure that this roll is slightly bigger than the first two.
Step twelve: Cut three petals to go around the center rolls. Then cut three more petals slightly bigger than the first three. You can do whatever shapes you want!
Step thirteen: At the bottom of each petal cut a slit in the center about an inch up.
Step fourteen: With the three smaller petals, overlap the slits slightly on the right side of the decorative card stock and secure with tape.
Step fifteen: Do the same with the bigger petals, except overlap on the wrong side.
Step sixteen: With a glue gun, glue each smaller petal to the last center roll you made.
Step eighteen: Then glue the bigger petals.
Step nineteen: Lastly, glue in the center rolls.
